LM Maths Proficiencies - Questioning Prompt Cards
We created our Mathematics Proficiency Questioning Prompts to support teachers to build their understanding of how to plan, teach and assess mathematics across the 4 Proficiencies. We recommend that teachers and/or PLC teams utilise these resources during maths planning by choosing 2-3 focus questions from one of our question cards to use during whole-group, small-group and one-on-one maths discussions with students. These questioning prompt cards have been designed so they can be used with students across all year levels.

Our Self-Talk Bookmark and Metacognition Bookmark are designed to support students to self-monitor their understanding, thinking and mindset as they work through a problem or rich mathematical task. We recommend providing students with examples of the thought-process involved in using these prompts through ‘think-alouds’ and partner discussions before having students use this resource independently.
NUMBER LINE UP PUZZLES - DR PAUL SWAN
We recommend this resource for students in Year 1 and up. It’s a rich and engaging task that reinforces key messages about maths mindset, such as persistence, the importance of embracing mistakes and flexible thinking.
