2025 Incursions
-
Our Escape Room Challenge involves students working collaboratively through a series of clues that have been left within maths puzzles and challenges to find the identity of an unknown person!
To begin this incursion, students undergo ‘Maths Mindset Training’ to ensure they go into the Escape Room challenge with the mindset and learning dispositions of a true mathematician. This involves learning about the importance of a maths mindset, why mistakes need to be embraced and celebrated and how listening to, sharing and justifying their thinking to others strengthens their mathematical understandings.
Throughout the incursion, students will be exposed to a range of mathematical concepts that will require them to collaborate, think flexibly and make mathematical connections. The proficiencies of Understanding, Fluency, Problem Solving and Reasoning are embedded within the challenges, allowing students to strengthen and deepen their mathematical knowledge and understandings. This incursion will re-engage students in mathematics in a positive, engaging and supportive learning environment, providing them with unique mathematical experiences that will compliment and enhance their everyday maths program.

Our Puzzle Mania challenge involves students working independently and collaboratively to complete a range of hands-on mathematical puzzles. Throughout the incursion, student mindsets will be put to the test, as they will be challenged to think critically, problem solve and apply a range of mathematical understandings in order to solve each puzzle.
To begin this incursion, students will learn about the history of different types of geometric puzzles, number puzzles and logic puzzles and explore why many of these puzzles have withstood the test of time and are still popular today! Students will then have the opportunity to participate in ‘Puzzle Mania’, where they will earn points by attempting to solve a range of different puzzles. Students will be rewarded for the positive learning dispositions that they display along the way.
This incursion is designed to provide students with a unique experience that will allow them to see mathematics in a different way, whilst complimenting their everyday maths program. We create a positive, supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages risk-taking, celebrates mistakes and promotes a love of mathematics!

Our Think Like a Mathematician incursion involves students exploring and unpacking the positive learning dispositions of a mathematician and applying them to a range of maths puzzles and challenges. At the beginning of the workshop, students will have the opportunity to reflect on the learning dispositions that they are currently displaying towards mathematics and the impact that this has on their mindset, confidence and learning. Throughout the session, we will debunk many of the common maths myths that are widely believed by both students and adults and provide students with strategies that will help them to build on and strengthen their maths skills, understandings and strategies. This workshop is a fun, hands-on and interactive experience that will engage even the most reluctant maths learners!

We are passionate about provided students with authentic learning experiences, that develop and strengthen student engagement, mindsets and mathematical understandings, as well as and instilling a love of mathematics. We specialise in developing and delivering programs to meet the needs of pre-primary, primary and early-secondary students. Our expertise allows us to deliver a range of workshops and incursions that are:
Dynamic, differentiated and tailored to meet the needs of all learners.
Collaborative, positive and authentic learning experiences that incorporate evidence-based strategies that support learners to overcome maths anxiety, embrace productive struggle and develop and strengthen their mindset and confidence towards mathematics.
An opportunity for students to be extended and challenged through a combination of explicit teaching and sequenced and scaffolded inquiry tasks that focus on making mathematical connections, critical and creative thinking, problem solving and reasoning.
