Pathway Challenges (Year 1-6)

These Pathway Challenges (Year 1-6) will strengthen your students’ problem solving and reasoning skills and ability to use mental and/or written strategies to add, subtract and multiply whole numbers (Challenges 1 - 4) and decimals (Challenges 5 & 6). We have provided 6 different challenges that increase in complexity. Use these task cards as a warm up/fluency task or as an independent or collaborative task. Students can work on each challenge over more than one session e.g. finding the pathway that results in the highest number on day 1 and finding the pathway that results in the lowest number on day 2. Encourage your students to prove/justify their solutions.
